Moving House Board for Nextcloud Deck as a normal Nextcloud Deck board.

A countdown board for a house move. The stacks are time horizons, from six weeks out to after the move, so each week shows only what has to happen now.

Moving House

Six Weeks Out2

Book the movers and confirm access

Good movers are booked weeks ahead, and access problems are what turn a move into two days.

  • Get quotes based on a real inventory, not a guess
  • Confirm parking and lift access at both ends
  • Check what the insurance actually covers
  • Book a day off either side of the move
Admindue in 7 days

Get rid of what you will not unpack

Every box you do not move is money and a weekend saved at the other end.

Packing

Two Weeks Out1

Transfer or close every utility

Do this early. A missed transfer means arriving to a house with no heating or internet.

  • Electricity, gas, and water at both addresses
  • Internet, with an install date at the new place
  • Redirect post and update your bank and employer
  • Cancel anything tied to the old address

Moving Day1

Read the meters and photograph every room

Meter readings and photographs are the evidence for both the final bill and the deposit.

Utilities

After1

01

When to use this board

For a house move organised as a countdown rather than a panic. The stacks are time horizons, not categories, so the board tells you what to do now: movers and access six weeks out, utilities two weeks out, meter readings and photographs on the day, and the deposit chased afterwards.

02

How to run this board

  • Six weeks out: movers and clearing.

Book the movers, confirm access at both addresses, and get rid of what you will not unpack.

  • Two weeks out: utilities.

Transfer or close electricity, gas, water, and internet so the new home works on day one.

  • Moving day and after.

Read the meters, photograph every room, then clean, return the keys, and chase the deposit.

03

What this creates

5 stacks, 4 board labels, and 6 starter cards carrying 8 checklist steps. Attachments and comments are intentionally omitted so the template stays portable.

04

Why it fits Deckloud

The template is just a recipe for standard Deck objects. No hosted workflow account, no relay backend, and no Deckloud-only object model.

05

Safe import rules

IDs are not stored. Stack and label keys are remapped at creation time, due dates use relative offsets instead of stale fixed dates, and checklists are written into the card description as ordinary Markdown task lists.

FAQ

Practical questions

Does this change my Nextcloud server schema?

No. It creates ordinary boards, stacks, labels, and cards through the normal Deck model.

Does the template include comments or attachments?

No. V1 templates are text-only because comments imply authorship and attachments vary by server/version.

Can I edit the board after creating it?

Yes. After creation it is just a normal Nextcloud Deck board.

Why are the stacks time horizons instead of categories?

A move is driven entirely by a date. Grouping by when the task must happen answers the only question you actually have each week.

Why photograph every room on moving day?

Meter readings and room photographs are the evidence for both the final utility bill and the deposit. They are trivial to take and impossible to recreate.
