Plan a Nextcloud Deck project
on a timeline, week by week.
A worked example: one Deck board becomes a six-week plan on the Gantt timeline.

The Gantt timeline in Deckloud on iPhone.
An example: a six-week website relaunch
Give each card a start date and a due date, then switch the board to Gantt. Each dated card becomes a bar. Drag a bar to move both dates, or pull its end to change only the due date.
Say your board has four stacks: To do, In progress, Review, and Done. About fifteen cards run from Write the content brief to Launch. The columns show what is moving, not whether the launch date holds.
Plan two weeks for content, two for design and build, one for review, and launch in week six.
Deck on the web has its own Gantt view. Deckloud draws the same dates on iPhone, iPad, Android, and the desktop app, so you can plan at the desk and check on your phone.
What to know first
- A bar needs a start date and a due date, and the due date cannot be before the start.
- Moving a bar writes the new dates to Deck. Other clients see them after sync.
- A card with only a due date shows as a point on its due day.
- The Gantt view is part of Deckloud's free core.
Steps
Build the plan in five steps
01
Date the cards
Open each card and set a start date and a due date. Unplanned cards appear under the chart in Undated, with the reason: No start date, No due date, or Due before start.
02
Switch the board to Gantt
On iPhone, iPad, and Android, open the … menu at the top of the board and pick Gantt. In the desktop app, click the layout button in the board toolbar, which reads Kanban, and pick Gantt.
03
Pick a scale
Choose Hour, Day, Week, or Month, on mobile in the same menu. Week shows a six-week plan at once, and Day helps in launch week. The scale changes only the view.
04
Fix overlaps by dragging
If Review starts before Build ends, drag the Review bar to the right. Pull the end of a bar when a task needs more time. On the desktop, Shift and an arrow key resize the selected bar.
05
Review the plan once a week
Move what slipped and date new cards from Undated. On iPhone, iPad, and Android, Add dates sets a quick due date or opens the card. Moving a card to another stack keeps its dates.
Details
Limits and what Deck stores
The timeline reads and writes two fields Deck already has, and nothing else.
01
Two dates per card
A task that happens in two separate blocks needs two cards.
02
Nothing new on the server
If you stop using Deckloud, your boards stay exactly as they are.
03
One board at a time
Deck scopes cards to a board, so the timeline does too. Keep one board per project, and use Today for due work from all boards.
04
Read-only boards stay read-only
If you can only view a board, you see its timeline but cannot move bars. Dragging is also off while archived cards are shown.
